Shreveport

The Shreveport District is easily accessible by either Interstate 20 or Interstate 49. If you are west bound on I-20, once you cross over the Red River bridge, exit right at Exit 19A, which is Market Street, LA 1. Stay in the left lane and pass under I-20 headed south. Continue in the left lane and you will be on LA 1 South, Youree Drive. Continue about 8/10 of a mile to the second red light which is on E. Olive and turn left and then take an immediate right on to the Youree Drive service road. Continue south approximately 3/10 of a mile on the service road to 2525 Youree Drive where Shreveport District Office is located.

If you are headed east bound on I-20, take a right at Exit 19A at the Market/LA 1 South exit. Stay in the right lane about 3/10 of a mile until you see a sign which states LA 1 and Youree Drive and then you will get into the left hand lane. If you are headed north on I-49, exit at the Dallas, Monroe, exit and stay in the right lane headed towards Monroe on I-20. Take a right on exit 19A at the Market/LA 1 South exit. Stay in the right lane about 3/10 of a mile until you see a sign which states LA 1 and Youree Drive and then you will get into the left lane. Continue south about 8/10 of a mile to the second red light, which is E. Olive and turn left and then take an immediate right on to the Youree Drive service road. Continue south approximately 3/10 of a mile on the service road to 2525 Youree Drive where Shreveport District Office is located.

The Shreveport District supervises probation and parole cases in Caddo and Bossier Parishes. The courts in those two parishes are the First and Twenty-Sixth Judicial District Courts. The office currently supervises approximately 5,800 convicted felons, of which 190 are sex offenders. SPD works with the U.S. Marshals Task Force on warrant roundups, tracking fugitives and assisting in investigations. We train regularly, we protect the public by taking drugs and guns off the streets and we partner with other providers to rehabilitate individuals through various reentry programs like the Day Reporting Center in Shreveport.

The Shreveport District is served by the Caddo Parish Adult Drug Court Program, an intensive supervision treatment program for drug abusing or chemically dependent offenders. They are currently funded for 57 treatment slots. Judge Craig Marcotte presides over the Caddo Parish Drug Court program, in addition to also presiding over the drug section in the 1st Judicial District Court here in Caddo Parish. The program consists of five phases and generally lasts a minimum of 18 months. The program integrates alcohol and drug treatment with the justice system, specifically serving felony offenders supervised by Probation and Parole. The Probation and Parole office refers directly to the Drug Court Program when we are aware an offender is in need of intensive drug treatment. The two liaison officers representing the Shreveport District Office of Probation and Parole are Amanda Spivey and Chris Byrd.

The Veteran’s Drug Court, launched in 2015, is up and running well. Officer John Rowe, the Shreveport District’s liaison with the court, attends sessions regularly. The program, a partnership between Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Caddo District Court, and the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections, allows veterans diagnosed with a substance abuse and accused of a nonviolent crime to “work out” their sentence through treatment, counseling, and community service while being monitored by the court for at least a year. After successful completion of the program, the offense is expunged from the veteran’s record.

The Shreveport District Office is involved with Special Olympics. Each year, our staff participates in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The Shreveport District Office also has a partnership with LifeShare Blood Centers. They bring the bus to the SPD parking lot to obtain life-sustaining donations.
