Families of the Incarcerated Advisory Board Application

About the Board

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections (DOC) recognizes incarceration does not only impact those who are imprisoned, but also their family and friends. As such, in 2019, Secretary James M. Le Blanc created the Families of the Incarcerated Advisory Board (FIAB) to enhance the experiences of families and friends of imprisoned people.

The role of board members is to advise on ways in which DOC can improve the collective experience of imprisoned people and their loved ones, not advocate for a specific individual in the correctional system. Advise means to inform, counsel, recommend, suggest, or guide. The advisory board is to provide advice, based on facts and good judgement to DOC.

Board members are expected to attend 75% of all general body and subcommittee meetings. The general body convenes quarterly and subcommittees convene monthly. No exceptions shall be made to this requirement.

Directions: Please, complete the following sections. When you are finished, submit the form via the DOC website. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. CST, Friday, February 19, 2021.
