Learn MoreThe Briefing Book is compiled and distributed on a biannual basis. It is designed to give the public basic, statistical and demographic information about the population of people in prison as well as budget and other helpful information.
Under Louisiana law, particularly the provisions of R.S. 15:574.12, the records of imprisoned people, past, present, or future, in the custody of the Department of Corrections, is confidential and cannot be disclosed, directly or indirectly, to anyone. This is not to say that some information, in the hands of another state agency or subdivision of the state, is not available, but pursuant to state law, while held by this Department it is confidential.
Consequently, we are unable to accommodate any request for any kind of data sharing on any terms.
